About
Jié (prounounced as Jghee-eh) Yang, is an aspiring comedian from Canada, that likes to talk about dating, dysfunctions of society, Asian culture (obviously… btw… I never talk about disappointing my parents on stage…), and mock facets of colonization.
His comedy aims be funny and educational/informative, he wants you to laugh but also walk away with some knowledge or food for thought. His comedic influences include Arie Spears, Eliot Chang, Joey Diaz, TK Kirkland, Bill Burr, Patrice O’Neal, Paul Mooney, Doug Stanhope, Arthur Fleck, Katt Williams, Bobby Lee, Ali Wong, Russel Peters, Godrey, Hasan Minhaj, and Andrew Schulz. He is also the founder of the annual local Asian Heritage Month Comedy Show, and the uproarious Barbershop Comedy Nights at The WKND Hair Salon. He’s known to infamously wear pink wraparound sunglasses on stage like his childhood hero Bret “The Hitman” Hart, just like his hero, the sunglasses helped him deal with the stage fright of public speaking!
